PAC TECH INAUGURA SU MODERNA PLANTA EMBOTELLADORA DE AGUA

El histórico evento contó con la presencia del gobernador de Puerto Rico y el ministro de Industria y Comercio de la República Dominicana, así como otras destacadas figuras políticas de ambos países. De igual modo, estuvieron presentes y apoyando un distinguido grupo de empresarios dominicanos, el gran equipo de colaboradores de Pac Tech, ejecutivos de Diesco Industries, clientes, familiares y amigos.

Esta planta embotelladora de agua está ubicada en el municipio de Las Piedras, sobre una extensión de 45 cuerdas de terreno y de 205,000 pies cuadrados de edificación. La misma cuenta con la tecnología más avanzada para el procesamiento de agua, además de equipo alemán de última generación.

La planta de Las Piedras trabaja paralelamente con las facilidades iniciales de Pac Tech en Carolina, con lo que se ha incrementado sustancialmente la capacidad de producción total de la compañía, lo que les permitirá continuar a la vanguardia en la agilidad de los procesos y la versatilidad en la oferta de productos, principalmente de su marca Cristalia, hoy día la de mayor preferencia de los puertorriqueños.

It is a reality that E-commerce is becoming more and more popular, and since 2020, in many cases it has become the preferred purchase option for many products, due to what the whole world suddenly began to live with the Pandemic.

Milestone Goldman Sachs investment in DIESCO

The US$225 million-dollar transaction in Diesco was made through the West Street Strategic Solutions Fund I (WSSS I) and marks a milestone for a Dominican capital company continuing its regional expansion.

Alyon is a multisectoral platform that results from the evolution of Diesco, after almost six decades of a successful trajectory in the DR and the Caribbean.

Santo Domingo – The Dominican entrepreneur Manuel Diez Cabral announced the emergence of the multi-latin platform ALYON, as a result of the financial investment that Goldman Sachs, the leading international investment bank, made in Diesco.

The transaction aims to accelerate the regional expansion of ALYON’s industrial branch, DIESCO, through a US$225MM investment which includes US$115MM in preferred shares.

ALYON is a business ecosystem composed of DIESCO, its industrial packaging and beverage division with operations in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and Colombia serving over 25 countries; its capital division, Advanced Capital Group; its real estate development division, INTERRA; and its participation in the education field through Barna Management School.

The Goldman executive explained that this would be the first investment of the fund in Latin America and emphasized that other investments are already planned jointly to make Diesco one of the most important industrial groups in the region. The event in which the birth of ALYON and the investment of Goldman Sachs in Diesco took place, was presided by the President of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader Corona, who assured that the investment of this important international bank in this emblematic local and regional business group demonstrates the confidence in the Dominican Republic business environment, as well as its investment climate, which promotes strategic alliances that influence the creation of new business opportunities to strengthen competitiveness and generate employment.

In the last five years, Pac Tech International has been nominated five times by Walmart as Manufacturer of the Year and of those, on four occasions it has been the winner of this distinguished recognition, which has the primary objective of recognizing those manufacturers, multinationals, distributors and local suppliers that are committed to the Island and make a difference.

When awarding the prize, which this time was carried out online, given the global situation that is happening with the Covid-19 pandemic, Walmart highlighted the following:

Pac Tech achieved double-digit sales growth and maintained margin growth. It was focused on the search for packaging and logistics efficiency. It was a great strategic partner during the year in multiple emergencies, consistently supporting with its essential products and storing water, which allowed the availability of products to our customers at all times. Somos resilientes, por esa capacidad que tenemos de adaptarnos y superarnos cada día, y nuestra historia lo confirma.

En nuestros 56 años de existencia, hemos vivido muchas situaciones complejas y de todas ellas hemos salido fortalecidos: crisis políticas y financieras a nivel nacional y mundial, desastres naturales como el huracán María o el accidente ocurrido en las instalaciones de Polyplas, así como otros sucesos que nos han legado valiosas enseñanzas, entre ellas, la importancia de ser valientes y optimistas ante la adversidad.

En DIESCO hemos aprendido a mirar más allá de cualquier coyuntura, en especial, el año 2020 será un período que todos recordaremos. Vivimos una pandemia global inédita cuyos efectos eran impredecibles, y la cual luego de titubeos y tropiezos, el mundo fue capaz de enfrentar de manera sorprendente. Sin duda, un año en que nos replanteamos muchos de nuestros objetivos administrativos, operativos y de proyectos en curso pero que, a la vez, demostró la capacidad de trabajo, talento y de reinvención de nuestro equipo humano que, en medio de un nuevo orden impuesto por las circunstancias, repotenció su excelencia.

How do we at Diesco fight COVID-19?

The emergence of COVID-19 was something that no country was prepared for. Words such as: Pandemic, Quarantine, Social Distancing, Prevention and Contagion, became part of our daily vocabulary. Suddenly we began to live a new reality, something never experienced by our generations, where we had to face an uncertain global emergency situation, which was affecting our daily lives in work, social and family life.

Although we at Diesco felt the fear and uncertainty that this new challenge was presenting us; we rooted in the experiences of our past battles won, which reminded us that together we are strong. We come together as a team and we resist being paralyzed; We are filled with courage and determination to take firm steps in search of alternatives, since because of our responsibility to the country and our clients we could not stop, but continue.

Since the beginning of the crisis, all our collaborators, Directors, Managers and Supervisors, aligned and empowered themselves in developing and implementing measures to face this situation based on -FIRST THE PEOPLE-, trying to guarantee the integrity and health, both physical and mental and emotional of our employees and their families, of our clients and suppliers and of the whole society in general. This effort was focused on two main aspects:

Guarantee the durability of each of the positions of our collaborators, through being able to ensure the stability of all the operations and tasks of the group.

Implement occupational safety measures established by local and international organizations, with special attention to the most vulnerable people and maintaining safe spaces with all the protocols of social distancing and hygiene recommended by the reference institutions, to prevent all possibilities of contagion from our people.

Similarly, when the entry of the Coronavirus into our country was imminent, a Multidisciplinary Group was immediately formed with all the decision-making and execution capacity, which would evaluate and coordinate the company’s steps day after day and be able to guarantee the achievement of the established objectives, a group that continues to meet day by day, in order to maintain a healthy environment, ensuring the integrity and health of all.

ACTIONS TAKEN BY COVID-19

Prevention

We created awareness in all our collaborators by sharing relevant information that the WHO and the MSP had established for contagion prevention. We established mandatory temperature monitoring of everyone who entered our facilities, use of disinfectant gel, mask at all times and social distancing of 2 meters between people. As well as increasing the frequency of cleaning with products approved for this task with high alcohol content.

We established a strict visitor policy. Remote communication and videoconferencing systems for meetings. As well as working remotely if your role allows it and your health situation is high risk. At the same time, all institutional events and activities were postponed.

Medical dispensary, doctors, nurses

Remote Work

Reduction of contact between workers by eliminating face-to-face meetings, implementation of remote work, establishment of alternate work shifts, etc.

Automation of processes and digital signatures to avoid contagion.

Training in collaborative work tools / Microsofot Teams virtual workshop and Tips to lead teams remotely.

Accompaniment to the leaders to define the functional work plan in a virtual way. Approach to ensure the well-being of the team. EMPATHY.

Inform And Develop

Information campaign, constant deployment and communication by core. CLEAR-TIMELY-SIMPLE-HOPE.

Signage campaign related to Covid-19, policy that workers, with exposure to positive cases, remain at home.

Training on the correct use of masks and gloves, including their final disposal. Keep distance.

Coordination of participation in Webinars according to the interest of the collaborator and development needs.

Access protocols for contractors and visitors

Commercial Protocol

Risk and precaution workshops.

First aid and psychological training.

Vaccination Centers And Campaigns

Execution of a massive voluntary vaccination campaign for all Pac Tech International personnel, in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

Coordination of joint actions with the Ministry of Health of the Dominican Republic, enabling vaccination centers in our Termopac Industrial office and in the Los Pioneros Club behind Polyplas Dominicana.

Development and execution of information campaigns on the availability of vaccination in group companies in the Dominican Republic.

Extension of the benefit of vaccination in the centers of the companies to the members of the family nucleus of the employees.

Recognition And Appreciation

THANKS TO YOU campaign.

Policy of gratitude to cases of empathy (notification in the presence of symptoms or positive direct family member).

Virtual meetings with the CEO and the different groups to thank the support.

Video with the photos of the Vice Presidents, Directors and Managers with a sign thanking all the staff.

Daily monitoring meetings to act in support of those who require it.

This lucidity and speed of effective responses to face the COVID situation, combined with the ability to implement new solutions and the high standard of loyalty and commitment that each of the collaborators has with the company and our nations, we were able to guarantee supply of our products, some of which are classified as basic necessities, to all the peoples in the most critical and disconcerting moments of this crisis; which has been a great motivation to continue giving the extra mile.

At present, we continue to work hand in hand with the different economic sectors to which our businesses belong, so that, in conjunction with government organizations, we continue to make possible the reopening and economic sustainability in a phased manner, always emphasizing that health is what first.

Day by day we exhort and encourage each other to continue to be cautious; to respect the preventive measures and recommendations that have been dictated by national and international organizations to reduce the spread of this virus, and that benefit our health and the health of our families and communities. Diesco muestra liderazgo en el sector exportador dominicano en Hub 2018

Santo Domingo.- Con el propósito de dar a conocer el impacto de sus empresas Polyplas y Termopac en temas de exportación y dar una mirada hacia nuevos mercados que permitan diversificar sus operaciones, Grupo Diesco participó en la tercera exposición comercial multisectorial, HUB Cámara Santo Domingo.

Álvaro Sousa, Director de Asuntos Corporativos de Diesco, sostuvo que a través de Polyplas y Termopac canalizan la distribución de sus productos plásticos a las islas del Caribe, logrando posicionar a la República Dominicana como un referente de calidad en el exterior.

Ambas empresas constituyen la división de empaques del grupo, precursora entre sus unidades de negocios, cuyo éxito y exponencial crecimiento se ha fundamentado en la innovación constante en su gama de productos y la insuperable relación calidad-precio que ofrecen gracias a sus capacidades tecnológicas de última generación.

Sousa indicó, además, que la división de Diesco Empaques presenta un portafolio combinado de productos de más de 300 opciones en tipos de resinas plásticas y otros tipos de materias primas. “Sólo a través de Termopac exportan a más de 40 localidades en el Caribe, América Central, Suramérica y los Estados Unidos”, afirmó.

HUB Cámara Santo Domingo es un concepto de exposición comercial desarrollado bajo el formato B2B, que reúne grandes, medianas y pequeñas empresas, tanto nacionales como internacionales en un espacio pensado y diseñado para la exhibición de productos y servicios, hacer networking, expandir relaciones comerciales, actualizar conceptos, conocer nuevas tendencias, y cerrar negocios.

En esta tercera versión participaron 140 compradores internacionales y más de 40 países, interesados en hacer negocios con la República Dominicana.
